The modelling is based on the [FrameNet II: Extended Theory and Practice](https://framenet2.icsi.berkeley.edu/docs/r1.5/book.pdf) book. The PreMOn FrameNet ontology module defines classes [pmofn:Frame](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#Frame) and [pmofn:FrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#FrameElement) as subclasses of [pmo:SemanticClass](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/core#SemanticClass) and [pmo:SemanticRole](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/core#SemanticRole), respectively. [pmofn:FrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#FrameElement) is further specialized in four subclasses, denoting the four typologies of FN frame elements (e.g., [pmofn:CoreFrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#CoreFrameElement)). Being [pmo:SemanticRole](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/core#SemanticRole)s, in PreMOn Ontology frame elements are always specific to the frame where they are defined, even for extra thematic frame elements that are typically shared across frames in FN (e.g., the *Circumstances* extra thematic frame element corresponds to multiple individuals of type [pmofn:ExtraThematicFrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#ExtraThematicFrameElement), one for each frame where it is defined). Frame element core sets of a [pmofn:Frame](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#Frame) are represented as reified objects of type [pmofn:FECoreSet](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#FECoreSet), having as members some [pmofn:FrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#FrameElement)s. Relations between [pmofn:Frame](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#Frame)s are modeled using the subproperties of [pmofn:frameRelation](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#frameRelation) (e.g., [pmofn:inheritsFrom](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#inheritsFrom)). Similarly, mappings between [pmofn:FrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#FrameElement)s of [pmofn:Frame](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#Frame)s related via some [pmofn:frameRelation](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#frameRelation) are represented using frame relation-specific subproperties of [pmofn:frameElementRelation](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#frameElementRelation) (e.g., [pmofn:inheritsFromFER](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#inheritsFromFER)). Within a frame, a frame element may exclude/require the presence of another frame element ([pmofn:excludesFrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#excludesFrameElement)/[pmofn:requiresFrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#requiresFrameElement)). [pmofn:LexicalUnit](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#LexicalUnit), associating a lexical entry with a frame, is defined as subclass of [pmo:Conceptualization](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/core#Conceptualization). A [pmofn:LexicalUnit](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#LexicalUnit) may have a development status ([pmofn:LUStatus](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#LUStatus)) and can incorporate a [pmofn:FrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#FrameElement) (e.g., *microvawe.v*, besides evoking frame *Apply heat*, also incorporates the frame element *Heating instrument*). Finally, [pmofn:Frame](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#Frame)s, [pmofn:FrameElement](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#FrameElement)s and [pmofn:LexicalUnit](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#LexicalUnit)s can be constrained according to some semantic types, defined in [pmofn:SemType](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#SemType), and organized in a hierarchy according to [pmofn:subTypeOf](http://premon.fbk.eu/ontology/fn#subTypeOf) relations between them.
